Custom expert Gooike van Slooten joins Atlas

Over the last few months Atlas continued growing its Indirect Tax and Customs practice. After global Indirect Tax experts Johan Visser and Dasha Korobeynyk joining Atlas, we are also delighted to welcome Gooike van Slooten in our team.

Gooike van Slooten studied Tax Law in Leiden and has over 22 years of experience as a tax lawyer. He started his career at PwC, continued his career with Baker & McKenzie and recently joined Atlas.

Gooike is a well-known, and widely recognized customs advisor. He is specialized in customs and indirect tax law, such as VAT and excise duties. Gooike has extensive experience in customs and indirect tax matters relating to international supply chains, including customs classification and valuation matters. He also focusses on tax dispute resolution, with an exceptional understanding, not only of EU customs law, but also of EU law in general, including EU state aid issues, and procedural law. He has litigated procedures, before the different courts in the Netherlands, including the Dutch Supreme Court, as well as before the European Court of Justice.

Gooike teaches at the universities in Amsterdam, Leiden and Groningen, as well as at the Dutch association of tax advisors (NOB) and is a regular contributor to authoritative fiscal publications such as the BNB, WFR, TFB and NL Fiscaal.

With Gooike joining Atlas, we have taken the last step in the formation of our global supply chain tax team. The team, consisting of international corporate income tax, transfer pricing, VAT/indirect tax and customs experts, adopts a truly multi-disciplinary approach to the taxation of global supply chains, in close cooperation with Tiberghien and T/A economics and taking full advantage of our membership of WTS Global, with member firms in over 100 jurisdictions.
